The artist's eye

I have been working on my art for over 40 years and I have been a picture framer for 25 years. The reason I got into the framing was because of my artwork.

Over the years the two have melded together beautifully and I believe that I am more accomplished at each one because of the other.
I love having artwork come into the store because it broadens the scope of my exposure to all that artists today and in the past have done.
I am always challenged by the new projects that come in. I have to continuously look for ways to make the presentation extraordinary and also makes the customer happy.

My life today is filled with challenges to my creative talents and it is extremely rewarding whether I am creating a new piece of artwork or doing a framing job for someone else.

This is my first blog and this gives a bit of insite as to who I am and what I do.

Hi Nancy, I love your work. I have a great deal of respect for people who paint in detail. I don’t have the temperment. Sometimes I think I’m a “one trick pony” but for sure I’m a quick study and folk artist. I love whimsey and color but I also really appreciate the entire creative process. I know that when I am in my study I am fully engaged and in my happy place. The world could be blowing up around me and I’d still feel calm, serene and excited all at the same time.
I was able to really call myself an artist after completing “The Artist Way” by Julia Cameron. She definitely gave me permission to be who I am and by able to say, “I am an artist” with confidence. I also figured things out a bit myself from taking art history classes and seeing Marcel Duchamp’s urinal which he hung and sold at the Armory Show in 1917. You should see the stuff my son in law has painted on mufflers. And, he’s had his work bought and hung by the Boise Art Museum! Also, my work has appeal for people–especially myself! I am having a wonderful time and it all happened for my during and after menopause. You could say that I am the Post Menopausal Poster Girl! I feel so fortunate because I don’t want to spend the rest of my life going out to lunch (although I must say I enjoy it once in a while)!
